Controller/Director of Finance
Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is currently seeking an experienced and strategic Controller/Director of Finance to join a well-established leadership team in Connecticut. This is a high-impact role for a hands-on finance professional who thrives on driving business performance, improving processes, and influencing strategic decision-making.
As a key partner to executive leadership, this individual will oversee all accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, risk management, budgeting, and administrative functions while leading a talented cross-functional team. Responsibilities:
- Lead all accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and strong internal controls.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, forecasts, and management reports.
- Direct the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting activities.
- Provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations to support business growth and profitability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial performance, operational efficiency, and cash flow.
- Monitor and improve key business metrics, including DSO, DPO, working capital, and overall financial performance.
- Oversee inventory costing, machine rates, product costing, and pricing analysis for existing and new products.
- Manage corporate insurance programs, broker relationships, and risk management initiatives.
- Partner with Human Resources on employee benefits programs, including evaluation and enhancement of the company's 401(k) plan.
- Lead external financial, tax, and retirement plan audits and maintain relationships with auditors and advisors.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, tax, and reporting requirements.
- Assess customer and supplier financial health to minimize risk and support informed business decisions.
- Monitor treasury and investment activities to maximize returns and support liquidity objectives.

In this role, the individual will recruit, develop, and inspire high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Proven leadership experience in accounting and finance.
- Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and operational finance.
- Experience working within a manufacturing or product-based environment preferred.
- Track record of improving processes, controls, and business performance.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
Additional Information:
- Salary: $150,000 - $175,000 per year
- Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 1st shift
- This is a supervisory position.
